Robert Allen Vanderpool

NORWALK -- Robert Allen Vanderpool, 65, passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2019, at Stein Hospice Service in Sandusky surrounded by family, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov. 16, 1953, in Willard to Harles and Charlotte Vanderpool. He was a graduate of South Central High School and EHOVE Joint Vocational School.

Bob was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Peru. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed hunting, beekeeping, popcorn and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bob was a 44-year employee at LSC Communications, formerly known as R.R. Donnelley, in Willard, an EMT with Tri County Ambulance Service for 10 years, and a first responder at RR Donnelley for many years.

Bob is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jean; his father, Harles; his paternal grandmother, Myrtle; his children, Robert (Treena) Vanderpool of Netti, W.Va., Jeffrey (Christina) Vanderpool of New London, Steven Mockler of Norwalk, Courtney Mockler (Eli Schafer) of Norwalk, Emily Mockler (Mark Palinski) of Huron, Anna (Benjamin) Love of Monroeville, and Benjamin Vanderpool of Norwalk. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren: Derek, Kristen, Shane, Summer, Tiffany, Caleb, Jeffrey, Paige, Cameron, Brody, Jackson, Ethan, Brooke, Addelynn, Xzavior, Alex, Jeffrey, Sylus, Mark, Waylon, Hunter, and Charlotte, and by two great-grandchildren, Stella and Opal. He is also survived by siblings Linda (Dave) Seidel, John (Sherry) Vanderpool, Tim (Brenda) Vanderpool, Sarah Vanderpool, Kay (Rod) Zellner and Debbie (Jeff) Gilbert.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte, in 2015; his mother- and father-in-law, Tom and Mary Mockler; his brothers-in-law, Rod Felver and William Smith; his nephew Cody; and his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.

Friends may call Jan. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St. Norwalk. The Rev. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will be at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the development of the Robert A. Vanderpool Scholarship Fund at EHOVE, for those pursuing a career in Public Safety.
